Communities
Want to join the network?
The Island Knits Collective is a platform for information sharing, promotion and peer support for fibre growers, artisans, artists, community builders and vendors. Membership in the collective provides you with opportunity to:

  • Promote your artist profile, community or business page in the network directory.
  • Promote your special events like pattern releases, shop updates and community-a-longs on the Island Knits Instagram page.
  • Participate as a vendor, instructor or demo your skills at an Island Knits event.
  • Discuss and share information with other local collective members through our facebook group.
  • Collaborate with us to create awesome local Island-Knits-a-Long projects that would include other Island Knits collective members as well!

Membership
Membership is vetted and limited to Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. At this time there is no cost to join the join. Members are requested to provide support to events in which they participate when possible, normally in the form of prize support to at least 1 event or a promotional activity (social media post or other promotion of island knits) per calendar year. Network members are requested to actively support Vancouver Island fibre hype and their fellow collective members through social media posting about Island Knits. You will also be added to the Island Knits Mailing List and receive information about our Markets and other events happening around the islands.

Application Process
As time allows a more sophisticated web submission form will be created for the convenience of future applicants. In the mean-time, please send an email to info(at)islandknits.ca providing your basic information and we will get back to you.

Island Knits Recognizes the privilege of living, working and creating on the beautiful traditional lands of the Lekwungen speaking people (Coast Salish), a people whose deep and spiritual connection to this land continues to this day. We acknowledge this with gratitude and thanks to the indigenous people of this region and their ancestors, and pledge to tread carefully on this precious territory.

Island Knits believes in diversity and inclusivity and commits to creating and maintaining a loving space free of discrimination online and at all events.
